History

MACOSA was created on March 15th, 1973. As a subcontractor specializing in mid-range lingerie-corsetry, it benefitted from the late-70s burgeoning women's lingerie market and its clients included the top French brands plus some foreign brands as well. By the late 1990s, it had almost 250 employees.

From 1995 to 1999 with the increase in outsourcing, MACOSA sought new clients in the high-end and luxury sectors and began manufacturing new products such as swimwear, beachwear, large-sized lingerie, teen lingerie, sport lingerie, maternity lingerie, nighttime lingerie, at-home garments, nautical T-shirts, dance articles, polos and sweatshirts. It also reached out to young designers starting their businesses by integrating two or three of their collections a year.

As the demand of its clients evolved, the highly-qualified staff stopped producing large series and began to perfect the production of small - even very small - series (50 pieces per reference/color).

To increase the company's service offer, a design office was created in June 2004 to finalize collections.  In-house Pattern Drafters were now available to interpret the sketches provided by each brand's designers.

In the past 10 years, MACOSA has become more international : the company works mostly for foreign clients from Great Britain, Austria, The Netherlands, Australia, Belgium and Germany.
For the past 5 years, MACOSA has been manufacturing men’s underwear and swimwear.
Today MACOSA has 105 employees, most of whom are women (94%). Located not far from Paris in a rural area, the company provides jobs for those living in the region. It is also the top French subcontractor in its field.
